This is ridiculous

I'm too hangover to write something witty about this picture. Let's just say I'm glad I wasn't actually wearing my favourite grey cardigan when this happened last night.

But really, man.

Outfit pictures at last

This skirt may seem familiar to some of you. That's because it's the same skirt I bought several weeks ago in blue. I loved it so much, I couldn't resist grabbing it in grey-khaki as well. And as I was already in Mango and sales were still going strong, I also got this cute red cropped cardi. It's perfect for injecting some colour in the basic high-waisted-skirt outfits I always end up in.

And to tell you the truth, these are not the only things I got. A full-blown shopping extravaganza took place and I really must hold a proper photo session in order to show you all my new stuff. Let me just tell you this: there were several pairs of shoes involved.

Tulip hem skirt, MANGO. Red cropped cardigan, MANGO. Black t-shirt, ZARA. Dove-grey pashmina, from a bazaar in Turkey. Black patent belt, MANGO. Black maryjane heels, some shop in Volos.

All is quiet now

It is finally over. My friend Jasmine and I presented our final thesis yesterday and now we can relax. Not for long though. I'm moving to Athens in a week from now, so I will be drowning in cardboard boxes soon. We went for some much needed celebratory shopping earlier today and I got these two scarves from Bershka. Perfect for spring.

I also have a few more new acquisitions to show you, but the light is almost gone now. Tomorrow maybe?

...but I managed to find some time for a quickie post.

I got this Stefanel bangle yesterday. The chunky knit keeps my wrist warm and its cuteness lifts my spirits while studying. I wish I could show you a picture of my new find incorporated in an outfit, but I guess you'll have to wait a few more days for that.

Ambrosiac, thank you for your comment. I wouldn't touch this subject otherwise, but you asked for my opinion, so here it is:

I totally agree with you. I find these shoes plain ugly. People may argue that they may be extremely comfortable or that they are innovative and original, but I don't think that takes anything away from their ugliness. However, it still is a matter of taste and taste is subjective. Our aesthetics depend on so many different factors. What we our mother used to wear when we were young, what culture we grew up in, what our religion or morals are. All of these and many other factors play part in what we end up considering attractive and what not. So, me considering them ugly doesn't really mean anything. And I should point out too, that due to my manners and common niceness, I would never tell that to the person wearing them. Even writing that here, it makes me feel bad about Sara Jessica. Because, let's face it, she's not doing any harm to anyone. It's totally her business if she chooses to wear ugly shoes or not.

Now, regarding to you saying that you wouldn't ask a woman out if she was wearing them, my question is this: Would actually these shoes keep you from getting to know better an otherwise wonderful person? Does an awful footwear choice mean that that person is awful too? Or you'd just be embarrassed to walk down the street with her? Ambrosiac, and all of you amazing readers, I'd love to know what you think.

I'm happy to see there's a lot of blog love going around these days. Some time ago (btw, sorry for the delay, sweetie) Becca Jane declared my blog fabulous, by giving me an award. Well, it seems she wasn't the only one that kinda likes me, cause I got the same award from beloved fellow greek blogger Alecca Rox, just a few days ago. And now the amazing blogger/architect (the real thing, not student) Jessie also awarded me with another new, cute and pink one.

Now, how do I tackle this? I've already done a "10 loveliest blogs" tag a month ago, and I don't want to just repeat myself. So, I thought instead of doing a list, I could suggest to all of you fine people in search of fresh blogging talent, to go through my - maybe too extensive - blogroll, on the right column of this blog. I pay a visit to all of the listed blogs at least once a fortnight, I add new ones every few days and occasionally I delete some, so you'll find no boring or abandoned blogs in there. Back in the day, when I was just a newbie in this fashion-blogging world, this was how I found many of you fine people out there.

So, I say take your chance. I believe all of the blogs in my list are fabulous, otherwise they wouldn't be there. You could start in the top and work your way to the bottom or click away randomly. Who knows, maybe your new blog obsession is somewhere in there.

Oh, and one last thing. Don't limit yourselves only to the FASHION BLOGS. Some of my favourite daily reads are listed under the NOT FASHION, BUT STILL NICE title. If you love DIY and interior design, you will find some true gems there. And if you are mad about fashion illustration, like I am, you simply must nose around my FASHION ILLUSTRATION blogroll. Right now I'm slightly obsessed with Apartment Therapy, as I am in the middle of planning a house move, and I can't get enough of the cute little apartment photos and awesome DIY ideas they post.

After all this madness (architecture school work and house move) ends, I'm planning a lot new things for this blog, among which is a series of posts, introducing you to my favourite daily reads. Until then, feel free to click away!

A key or four to my heart

When my dear blog-friend Laura commented that she absolutely *loved* the tree-of-life necklace I got some weeks ago, I thought I could easily get her one as well. After all, Greek girls didn't seem to be so impressed by them. Poor things were waiting in the shop, in a sad tangled mess, for someone to love them. I wasn't waiting anything in return for the favour, after all, all it took was a nice walk to the shops, and the necklace itself cost less than a fancy coffee. But Laura, being the sweetheart she is, insisted on some kind of compensation. After all, she does make the most beautiful necklaces herself...

Isn't it insanely cute? I've always wanted key pendant, but four miniature ones are so much better! And, to tell you the truth, I felt a little ashamed of my own gift-wrapping technique... Girl can seriously do packaging! Thanks sweetheart!

Influential, moi?

I know I'm kind of late to post it (Elena was waaay quicker) but if you haven't heard about it yet, here are the news:
Last Thursday, the weekly Athens free press LIFO published a feature titled Most Influentials 2009. And greek fashion blogs got a special mention!



If you can read greek, here is the article. You can also download the whole issue of LIFO in PDF here. However, I am aware of the fact that it's all greek to many of you, so here is the intro by M.Hulot, the writer of this feature, translated to english:

Athens may be no New York, London or Berlin, but all that is happening quietly and far away from the public eye, is actually great and can fairly compete with what is happening internationally. There are hundreds of talented musicians, artists, designers, groups that dream of changing things and that are currently planning this city's future, in every way possible. They may not be faces that one will recognise from their TV screen, but they stood out from the crowd because of their accomplishments in 2008. Now, I have to say that as much as I appreciate the mention in such a big publication, I got the feeling that whoever wrote the part about fashion blogs wasn't exactly familiarised with our blogs... I mean, I really don't think I mainly post going-out outfits. But, I'm willing to overlook that minor observation.

The fact that Winona of Daddy Likey is a blogging genius, I'm sure most of you know. I've written about her hilarious fashion blog before, so you have no excuse whatsoever. But, what you probably don't know, is that this time she actually invented a new tag! And I got so excited about it, I actually made her tag me. Yes, I'm subtle like that. The proof is still on her comments section, if you are inclined. What I didn't know at the time, was that Sal of Already Pretty (if you don't know her blog either, you really have work to do) knows me well enough to guess that I'd love it, so she tagged me too. Thanks girl!

So, this is where I blog. These days, at least. You see, I've been through many phases. I've been a coffee table blogger and a kitchen table blogger. I've even blogged from other people's computers. But lately, I felt the need to be more serious and have a proper working space, even if it's more about tackling my school work efficiently and less about the blogging.
So, I rediscovered my beloved desk that was hiding under a pile of crap. I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about. One box here, some files there and next thing you know, you are wondering if you by any chance gave that desk away, cause there's nowhere to be seen.

Above the desk I have a collection of cute little nothings pinned on a cork board. Clothes tags I couldn't bear to throw away, concert tickets (how cheesy), one mini calendar of 2007 with fairies and one of 2009 with cats (how cheesier can I get?), a poster of the lecture Jean Nouvel gave in 2006 in Columbia University and a small cardboard model of my "wall house".

Still here

It's been a week since my last post, and what a week! Other than my final thesis work (it's going quite nice, thanks to you all of you who asked), this past weekend I also had to supervise some minor changes in my soon-to-be new flat in Athens (it involved three builders, dust all over the place and me waking up at 8 in the morning) and then drive all the way back to Volos and dive back into AutoCAD drawing and Photoshop editing.

But today, I finally managed to get properly dressed and go outside to get some much-needed supplies, and I thought: "This must be documented! Who knows when I will be able to go out of the house again!"
