Playing matchy-matchy with Korres

New season releases by Korres are always exciting. The beloved greek company not only strives to renew their basic product collection with new cool hues, but there's always a brand new product (or two) launched, that's so good it makes you wonder how you managed all this time without it.

Rasberry Twist Lipstick is the new addition for A/W 2013-14. It's a buttery soft moisturizing lipstick in the form of a pen, meaning it is seriously easy to use and very comfortable to wear. The 6 limited edition colours are a perfect capsule collection of every lipstick shade a woman is ever going to need. The 3 pinkish hues are great for everyday use (the formula is actually so moisturizing, I'm planning to ditch the lip balm and use those instead) while the 3 more dramatic ones will add colour to all those cold and gloomy nights to come.

Instead of only photographing the goodies sent to me, I thought I'd just play matchy-matchy with some of the prints I'm planning to wear a lot this season. Think of it as practicing for when the time comes to choose what nails and lips go with that outfit. Ready? Go!

Purple and lilac reverse french

What do you do when you have some much-awaited time in your hands? You add colour to them as well!

Meet KORRES nail colour in Blueberry and Spring Lilac, both from the Lilac Cool pack available now at pharmacies.

Let me get something straight here - this ain't no nail tutorial. Still here? So, here's my two cents on doing a reverse french mani:
  1. Chose two colours of the same hue, it sorta looks more put together this way.
  2. Do two coats of the light one. Lights always need two.
  3. Don't drink coffee before doing the dark line.

What? Did you expect round stickers and shit? Nope, those fuckers were done freehand baby.

That's why you'll only see my left hand in this post. Cause I'm right-handed and, well, you know...

And if Spyros doesn't mind, why should you?

Blue + Yellow = Green

The fact that I'm not posting as much as I have planned to, due to vacation time, doesn't mean that I'm not sticking to the Fasting From Fast Fashion experiment. I've already put together many outfits and even shopped a bit, all without touching fast fashion items.

Living out of a suitcase sure helps.

Oh, and Spyros says hi.

No, Spyros is not fat, he's just hairy (that's what he has instructed me to say).

91 Bright Yellow and 93 Emerald by Korres

Light blue top, Attrattivo. Floral skirt, 80's vintage. Belt, Fornarina. Brown leather bag, Longchamp. Green sunglasses, RETROSUPERFUTURE. Tan leather and snakeskin print sandals, Bronx.

Big thanks to my sister for being the photographer this time.

Summer Korres

Korres MANGO BUTTER LIPSTICK SPF 10 in Coral
The most wearable orange I've come along. Plus, it's super moisturizing, if you like me, have lips that are chapped not only in winter. And is includes an SPF 15. Summer staple I tell you.

Korres MULTIVITAMIN COMPACT POWDER
Because my skin is more like MVP3 during summer, but will fade back to MVP2 by October. One has to plan forward if one wants one's forehead shine-free.

Korres Myrtle and Citronella Emulsion
In yet another hopeful attempt to tell mosquitos "thou shall not pass".

It is suitable for kids over 3 too, hence the dino. Ross Geller would approve.

Coming up next week:
An epic post about our visit to the Korres factory here in Athens, Greece. Just letting it sizzle a bit longer till you're all back from touring the Greek islands and all. Soon...

Korres

This is my personal Korres make-up artillery.

Along with liquid eyeliner - which Korres doesn't carry - these are my few absolute essentials.
I feel compelled to confess a couple of things though.

First, if you have been reading my blog for a while, you probably know that I'm not really a cosmetics person. I mean, half the time I leave the house completely bare-faced (today is one of those days actually), I skip the make-up section in magazines and I really find cosmetics stores claustrophobic. Hell, I never even paint my nails. All that doesn't mean I hate make-up. I just don't feel compelled to use it all the time and I treat shopping for it the exact opposite way I treat shopping for clothes and shoes, meaning I use very few things and only replace them when they run out. Generally the things I use the most are compact powder and mascara. These last couple of years, I have also taken on using blush and I have replaced eye pencil with liquid eyeliner, as I find the clean-cut cat's eyes line more appealing than the smokey effect of smudgy kohl. However, when I find a soft pencil in a shade as great as this blue petrol above, I give in.

Second, I'm sure many of you are wondering "why an all-Korres make-up bag"? Here is the part where I must admit I actually didn't pay for all these. My mum is a pharmacist and I shamelessly take advantage of that. And I know that's probably a waste of resources for a person who's not that into make-up. Life is unfair, what can I say?
