Falling Runway Models

You know what they say: It's not how many times you fall that matters, it's how many time you get back up.

Mustard

It's fun yet serious, colorful and joy-inducing but not too loud. Mustard is one of my favourite colours to wear and accessorize with. It also looks like it's going to be quite big this season, as seen in Sart's photos at NYFW. I also happened to stumble upon Michael Kors' guide on how to wear different shades of mustard. I hope all this mustard hype means that lots of wonderful stuff in all shades of mustard will show up in stores. Until then I am quietly wishing for American Apparel's famous in the fashion-blogging-world mustard skirt...

...and getting my need-now mustard fix by digging out my Pull and Bear mustard cardigan that magically goes with everything I own:
***UPDATE***
I remembered that I also had this picture of Mandy Moore wearing a mustard cardigan exactly like mine, and I had to share:

Shirtdresses are fun!

Last night I went to the movies to see You don't mess with the Zohan staring Adam Sandler and Emmanuelle Chriqui. It was good for an american comedy, but it got kinda boring after the first 45 minutes. At least Emmanuelle's character was stunning and had a great sense of style, and that was what kept me awake. Take my advice and wait for the DVD. Anyway, this is what I wore:
stripy shirt dress from Mango, worn NOT with these

Zara rope wedges, as I'd like too, but with these
Marks & Spencer mini-wedges, because I had to drive, and alsothese crown-shaped pendant and ring, which I am obsessed with

Spaniards do it better

For the past centuries, Italy has been considered the leader in quality shoe design and manufacturing. A tag stating Made in Italy is always a quality proof. Although all those years italian craftsmanship never failed to produce little leather works of art, Spain is definitely taking the lead in the design aspect, incorporating new materials in more up-to-date styles.
My favourite shoe designer, Chie Mihara, was actually born of Japanese parents in Brasil, but her company is based in Spain, where all of the above beauties were created, with sole purpose to come and find me and live with me happily ever after. In my humble opinion, she makes the ultimate round-toe maryjanes and pumps, complete with an anatomic foot bed insole. Her shoes are rather expensive, but I prefer to treat my feet with one of her masterpieces than three pairs of Zara pumps that will kill my feet.

Another personal spanish design staple is Camper. The brand needs no further introduction, everyone knows about the quirky shoes that were actually made to walk in. That is, walk a lot in. I won't lie, many of their designs are a bit rough and not exactly lady-like, but amongst these there are some real gems waiting to be discovered. My collection was recently updated with the above three pairs, bought from Camper's online shop on sale.

And this is my most recent shoe discovery (read purchase) of spanish design. Vialis is less famous than Camper and in the price range of Chie Mihara, but of the same concept: modern design, great quality, really comfortable shoes. I was eyeing up those for two months now, and when they reached their final sale price, I snatched them. I am now officialy a shoeaholic and I am putting myself on a shoe ban for the next two months. Unless I take a trip to Spain...

Victoria cuts it and Keira doesn't eat much

sources: popsugar and socialitelife

Personally, I think short hair suits Victoria, but I never thought of the gamine cut as feminine enough. Maybe I'm just too attached to my own long mane. Only the thought of going that short makes me hyperventilate. And, Keira... She has been this thin for so long I almost believe her when she protests that she is naturally that thin. She is never photographed drunk or dissorderly and looks borderline healthy most of the time. But then - as the article where I sourced the picture notes - in Bend It Like Beckham she had a completely different body. What's the story here?

Just hair

In the past few days I stumbled upon two different blog posts concerning hair and ways of managing them. On the first one, Sal shared both her love and her hate for her long, healthy, beautifully curly hair and the way they send shivers down her spine during the summer months. And while reading the second one, I remembered that the signon isn't just a cool french word - it's a shotcut to being chic in the form of a hairstyle. Not that I ever forgot about it. I've been wearing my hair up most of the time ever since junior high, when my friend Angela showed me how to do it using a pen or a pencil. It's easy, fast and doesn't require a mirror. If done right, it can look quite stylish. It gets all that hair out of my neck when it's hot or windy. And to put it more bluntly, I can't be bothered with anything more complicated than that.

Opportunity hit me at Pull and Bear

Don't you just love it when you see beauty where no one else does? That is exactly what happened with this dress. It's easy to wear, fits me perfectly, it's definitely cute and was waiting for me to see all of these qualities at the sales rack at Pull and Bear in Ermou st. in Athens, where I bought it for only 5 euros. Now, that's a good deal. Hint for my dear athenian readers: there were about two or three more left in size small. Run!
Oh, and excuse my moody face in the picture on the left. I'm not grumpy, I just don't have someone to take my pictures and I'm always worried how the self-shooting will turn out.

At the Badila store

Yesterday was a great day. I met some wonderful new people, talked about things I love and went shopping, of course. These pictures were taken inside a BADILA fitting room. Talking about BADILA... I like their clothes, but I'm not exactly getting their attitude. You can tell just by reading their business cards:

Once, inside that particular store, I was about to try on a jacket in size SMALL, but the sales guy grabbed the hanger, handing me another one, while mumbling that m a y b e I should try the MEDIUM instead. Well, maybe I should, but I won't know if I don't freakin' try it on first, will I? PLAIN RUDE. And the SMALL fitted me perfectly. Well, I heard that the sales guy doesn't work there anymore. And their clothes remain great. I just prefer buying them elsewhere.

On Friday...

...I went for a coffee with my friend Jasmine on Exarchia Squarethen we went to ZARA were I tried on some stuff, including this skirt (which I didn't buy)and I also went to Attika department store in Syntagma Square to find some Von Zipper Rockford sunglasses for a friend, only to find out they had completely sold out. Saturday was a more interesting, but more on that on the next post.

Censored

Actually, this outfit is about two weeks old. I bought the top from Bershka and wanted to show it off to all of you fine people straight away. But when I took a look at the pictures, I hesitated. They were kind of revealing cleavage-wise, and the boyf would deffinately not approve. It felt akward for me as well. This a blog about clothes, not boobs! But the top had some really interesting details that wouldn't show if I photographed it lying flat on my bed. So, what to do? Erased the body, kept the clothes. Viva la Photoshop!

Change of plans

This is what I've been wearing for the last two days. That's because I just didn't have enough time to return home and change. The harem trousers are by Attrattivo, bought in my hometown from this little shop I told you about. They are linen and have to be the most comfortable-yet-stylish trousers I have ever owned. I bought them two months ago, in the middle of summer, but until now it has been just too damn hot to wear them. I think I've compensated. The yellow shoes are these little bastards. And I refer to them as that because I found out the hard way that they really kill my feet. Slowly and painfully. I had to ditch them on the second day (car is major shoe closet, handy for circumstances like this) to change into these little fellows underneath. They were bought dirt cheap from Oysho - usually an underwear shop - two and a half years ago, and are in the risk of falling apart any time now, but they are still so sute! And comfy.

Chie never lets me down

From my favorite shoe designer's new collection. The color is called "anais cream". I rest my case.

Haunted...

...by this Lela Rose bubble hem dress in evil net-a-porter. I featured it on my net-a-porter dress megapost a month ago and today I made the mistake of visiting the evil site again only to find out it is still there. And it's haunting me. It may be 60% off, but it's still totally out of my budget at €485.34. Why do they torture me, why?

Fall/Autumn

Whatever you call it, it's here. It rained cats and dogs here in Volos these days and caught me totally off guard. That meant wearing a cute little dress and flip-flops/thongs. God, that british/american english thing is annoying! I'm greek, kind of middle ground, but I think I will go british from now on, ok? And I will also start wearing trousers/pants instead of frocks. I meant dresses. Oh, blimey!
