Skateboard art this weekend

Yesterday I found myself in Technopolis, where 7ply project is being set up. It's the fifth year this event will be taking place, combining all elements of street culture (skate, street art and hip hop music) and the second time I will be attending. Do you remember last year, my dear Queen B?

More than 120 artists from Greece and abroad (among them my boyfriend and lots of my friends) will be using the skateboard deck as inspiration, but also as the actual canvas for their unique creations. A committee will chose the best skateboard to be put into production by Greek skateboard manufacturing company Propaganda Rolling co. as a limited edition design.

As you can see, people are working furiously to get the event up and running this weekend.

The entrance is free of charge and if you decide to show up, other than the skateboard art you will also enjoy a skate show by the most famous greek riders, live graffiti by german artist Flying Fortress and greek artist Ser and on Saturday, live music by Zoltan Tribe, Logos Apeilh, Killa Kela and Foreign Beggars.

Styles In It

An exhibition on the underground street art that is graffiti, focusing on the three most prominent styles (3D lettering, wild style and characters) and featuring artwork by some of the most famous active graffiti artists in Greece today.

Opening tonight, at 8:30 in K44 Exhibition Space in Gazi, Athens.

Sewing *hearts* graffiti

As promised, it's finally time to reveal my super secret sewing project that everyone was wondering about. My loyal readers already know that the boyfriend is a graffiti artist and that he also had his birthday last weekend. A year ago I was striving to find the perfect present for him. I gave it a lot of thought, as I wanted something unique and special. Something that would reveal myself and what I think of him. And us. I thought, he's creative, I'm creative. Is there a way to combine our crafts, graffiti and sewing? And I had an idea. I took one of the girl characters he draws on walls - my favourite at the time - and made it into a plush doll.
That was last year. I could go on and on forever analyzing it, but I won't. I will just say the process was extremely time-consuming, as it was all by hand, but I loved every second of it and from what I saw, he loved it too.

This year the pressure was greater, but so were my sewing skills. Plus, I finally had a sewing machine in my disposal, which I put in good use. This is what happened:

Back from Thessaloniki

I have just returned from a wonderful weekend in Thessaloniki, going to graffiti events, watching a live football match and generally having a good time celebrating my boyfriend's birthday with him. Unfortunately the current events here in Greece are too disturbing for me to just blog about my trip, so for now I'll just leave it to this. Thank you for all your comments while I was away. Posting will be back to normal soon.

Hanging around graffiti

Yesterday was a beautiful day, and I spent it all outdoors. Greek TV show Oxygen* is doing some small segments about young creative people in Volos, my study town, and they asked my boyfriend and his friend and graffiti partner to speak about Color Your Life festival I helped them organize last summer, and also do a graffiti specially for them, so they could film the process. So, here we are outside the University of Thessaly Architecture School, the guys painting the day away and me photographing them, while road-testing my new Von Zipper Rockford olive/pink sunglasses.
I also took some street-style photos of students... Sart should better watch out! But I'm saving those for tomorrow's post, so visit back!

Fashion is everywhere...

Toy or king?

I can't believe I'm actually going to say that, but not everything is about fashion. I've been working my a$$ off these last weeks helping organize a one-of-a-kind graffiti event here in Volos, the city I'm studying architecture in. It has been really time-consuming and not letting me post about things like dresses and shoes, but I am actually having fun doing it! Color Your Life festival is gonna be held on a beach, writers from all over the world are going to compete in a graffiti contest and every night there will be hip-hop, reggae and electronic live music, all with free entrance. Here's the promotional video my boyfriend and his best friend made:


And maybe I can convince some of the writers to make me a dress like this one from net-a-porter?
