I am very fond of Mary Katrantzou.
She is Greek. She was born the same year as me. She is on twitter. Her first studies were on interior decorating, whereas I studied architecture. She is totally making a great career abroad. I admit I would die to own several of her runway frocks from present and previous collections, but instead I had to settle for one of her designs from her collaboration with Topshop.
Her last collection titled C’est Ci Nes Pas Une Chambre was inspired by images found in old issues of Architectural Digest and World of Interiors magazines, thus combining three of my biggest loves: graphic design, architecture and fashion.
Today she also made us proud by winning the Swiss Textiles Award worth 100,000 euros, fighting competition from Jason Wu, Damir Doma, Adam Kimmel, Juun.J and Duro Olowu.
Congrats!

Too bad she had to run away to make it but under the circumstances a wise decision.
Great news!

Wow! There must be a secret connection between architecture and fashion after all... I can say all my architect friends are interested in it!
congrats indeed! i love her too!
go mary go. isn't it funny that most designers wear things that have little or nothing to do with their creations?

It's awesome that she's doing so well and winning an award only strengthens her repertoire as a serious designer.
